There are a number of methods to scan your negatives.
The cheapest way, is to set up your camera. Goggle and youtube search on how to scan negatives.
1. Prepare a backlight.
2. Ideally set up a tripod.
3. if you have a negative creative filter, you can use it.
4. Use the macro function or a macro lens to take the picture of the negative.
5. Photoshop. Minor edits to make usable pictures. Basics should include, curves, crop, spot checking.

Alternatives.
A. Get a dedicated film scanner that is readily available from companies like canon and epson.
B. Pay someone else to do it. There are many photolabs that does it.

At its most basic level, this is all there is to a digital camera. Just like a conventional camera, it has a series of lenses that focus light to create an image of a scene. But instead of focusing this light onto a piece of film, it focuses it onto a semiconductor device that records light electronically. A computer then breaks this electronic information down into digital data. All the fun and interesting features of digital cameras come as a direct result of this process.

What is the best digital camera brand to buy?

I now own a HP digital camera that works just fine. But before digital came along, I had a Nikon film camera which I just loved. Everytime I see a professional, they are using a Nikon. To me digital can't even compare to film but it's nice to be able to see the pictures before they are developed. I have taken thousands of pictures over the years that are still on my SD cards. Don't get me wrong my digital camera is great and I have developed hundreds of the pictures, but when using digital you just can't stop at one picture.

I hear that Canon is the best digital camera, but I personally have a Nikon digital camera. I like it fine, except the shudder speed slows drastically when I turn the flash off. Not sure why that is.

Look for the features you want, not megapixels. Do you want more zoom than just 3X or 4X optical, Do you want a camera fully automatic or one where you can set shutter speed and aperture. There are point and shoots out there with an image stabilizer for shaky hands. 5 or 6 megapixels is fine, the more megapixels does not always mean a better photo. My daughter's 5 megapixel Fuji takes excellent 8X10 prints. There are 7 megapixel camera that don't do as well. Maybe you want a tiny camera. So certain things you should consider. Depending on the model, excellent point and shoot cameras come from Fuji, Sony, Nikon, and Canon.

Usually, I bring a normal camera with film and what not but it's always a hassle getting the pictures developed. I want to bring my digital camera with me so I can take pictures. The camera is battery powered and I will have limited access to my uncle's computer, but I won't be able to upload the pictures I don't think. Any tips or ideas for bringing the digital camera or is just a bad idea?

First, don't worry about how many megapixels it has. That stat is over rated. You will most likely be viewing it on a computer screen. I have a 10 year old camera that is 3.34 megapixels, and I have yet to see any real difference in quality against a 10-12 megapixel one. Any camera you buy now will have more than enough so don't concern yourself there.

It really comes down to price and overall ease of use. While there are many good brands out there, I personally like Nikon. Long established with high quality, easy to use and good prices.

Consider whether you want to have to recharge a battery pack (which is cheaper in the long run) or buy AA batteries (which is more convienent especially if the battery pack is drained).

Some cameras will have more features than others, ask yourself if you really need or would use those features.

Nikon is my advice, but there are many other good choices.

Well lots of digital cameras that specialize in still photos can take short amounts of moving images.

If you want Mainly moving films...you might be better off with a digital camcorder that can take STILL pictures as well. The trade off here is that the digital camcorders typically don't take very high resolution Still shots....but I think they are getting better.

It depends on how familiar you are with digital cameras. If yhou are doing alot of close work and need the zoom feature. You will pay a bit more. If you are just looking for a camera for everyday photography, with a few extra's, it's not unreasonable to pay between 2-3 hundred for a decent camera. Canon and Nikon make some awesome cameras. Also, Sony has come out with a couple of decent ones recently.

i have an hp photosmart a430 . i got it for 100 dollars. i dont remember if it was on sale or not tho. but even if not theyre still cheap. it came with a doc station too thats charges and prints pics directly off of the camera. it takes nice pics too and comes with everything, like usb cables,ink to print and special picture paper. i love it and ive had mine for 2 years about :) hope i helped,, good luck
you can always look on craigslist too cuzz sometimes people sell really good electronics like cameras for really cheap and usually in good condition :)

How to transfer pictures from my computer into my digital camera?

I have some pictures on my computer that I need to transfer to my digital camera so i can send it to my lawyer.

I tried dragging the pictures into my digital camera folder, but when i check the picture library on my camera the pictures don't show up even though they are in the folder.

If I get my camera developed, will the pictures that i dragged into its memory folder also get developed, or since its not showing in the library it wont?

And if it doesn,t how do i do it if i even can?

This is a very confusing question. If you have a digital camera, you dont get the pictures developed thats only film. So you can pick and choose which ones you print by using an online service or by bringing a cd of the shots to wallmart or some place that will print them. If you want to keep the pictures private for some reason I suggest you print them out yourself. Otherwise online services like mpix.com print for very cheap.

Your ideal camera is going to depend on whether you want a small point and shoot or a big DSLR camera. Either way I'd recommend Canon, I find their products to be very well-built and intuitive.

if you have a point and shoot, many companies make watertight housings for that, and they are pretty cheap compared to the dslr housings. there are even universal bags with a lens port to use that are decent. if you have the money and want to continue this hobby (which can be very rewarding and profitable) look at sea and sea brands. they have great gear and decent prices. good luck.

I am looking for a digital camera in the $ 300 or less range that has a faster shutter speed. I take lots of pictures for my animal rescue group and have a terrible time with the lag on my Sony Cyber Shot camera. I hit the button, but by the time the picture is taken, the animal has moved. Honestly as I have found out, any recent digital camera has a decent shutter time as long as the lighting is good. By pressing the shutter button half way, getting your subject in focus before you try to take the picture helps alot. Press the rest of the way, and it should capture it pretty quickly without lag. Other than that, fast cameras as a dslr would cost a bit more than $ 300 unless you were to find used on craigslist.

Photos from digital cameras by far out perform photos from cell phones. Heck both of my DSLR which are about 6 and 8 years old would blow out photos from cell phones. Because DSLR has bigger sensor, larger optics and more to choose from, more accessories.

You need a camera that you can hold the shutter open for at least a few hours. That means something like a 35 mm SLR or DSLR

With camera on its back, aimed at the night sky, place the cameras shutter speed to bulb and using a remote shutter release that can be locked open.

There are a few with new anti-shake unfortunately I haven't tried them out personally.

I do know a feature that you might want to consider

some cameras have eliminated the view finder for a screen only
(the screen only can be an issue in bright sun - you may not be able to see the screen well or when your battery starts to run low - screens use more battery power)

If you have a digital card bring it with you to a camera store or any store that has cameras on display ... you can snap pics and then bring it home or print it to see which you prefer, if the store has 1 hr dev. then you see immed. what you've got, just don't forget your card. My dad did it all the time and I now do it when considering a camera as well.

My digital camera is a Canon Powershot A530. I use Duracell's batteries for it, but after I take about 20 pictures, it starts to act up and says to change the batteries, and will take maybe one picture, then shut off on its own. I've gathered that maybe the batteries I use are not compatible with my camera, but I don't know which batteries are. If you happen to know which battery works well with this kind of camera, well please answer. :) Thanks.

If it only takes "about 20 pictures" on a set of Duracells, you have a bad camera. My Canon A710 takes 200+ pics on a set of Duracell Alkalines. Are you using some dollar store reject imitation Duracells? Digital cameras do NOT like crappy batteries.

Personally, I chose the Canon Powershot SD950-IS, but I recommend the SD850-IS if someone does not want to spend quite that much money.

Please look at the new Canon Powershot SD850-IS. This is a very versatile camera that will not get in your way as you travel. It has a nice workable zoom range that will take you from broad scenics to decent telephoto views. Look at some sample images from the reviews on the SD850-IS to get the idea what this lens will cover. It has image stabilization, which really works. It is small enough to fit into a shirt pocket. It has a rechargeable battery that is good for 200-250 shots, depending on how much zooming and viewing you do or on how many shots use the flash. A spare battery is 1¾"x1¼"x¼" and the charger is barely twice that size, so carrying the spare is easy and packing the charger is easy. It has an optical viewfinder which can be useful when the sun is too bright to see the image on your LCD monitor. I could go on, but you can read some reviews and see what the pro's say.

I've done the same thing, and usually it's no problem. Every now and then, the pictures will mysteriously disappear though. Buy an inexpensive card reader and see what's on the card. If you have images there, just transfer them over to your hard drive. Formatting is an easy way to erase old pictures that you've already transferred, but I've gotten by many times by just deleting the pictures using my computer.

Maybe you can't. A digital camera is normally made for shooting still images or taking videos that are saved as files. Most of them are not capable of live video. Get a USB web cameras instead. By the way, who are you trying to "broadcast" to? You probably want a instant message program that supports video chat.

I won't suggest a make and model, but you should consider a DSLR and a good macro lens, maybe a ring light too. The lens is really the defining factor here. It'll cost you, but it will definitely take you to the next level.

Kodak V1003 is awesome! its about $ 200 and then a sim card is about $ 20-$ 40! It has different effects sepia, black & white...etc. Ans it has 8mp Its very easy to control. The buttons are very nice and the quality of the pictures is great!

I just brought a new digital camera.I figured out how to take pictures but i can't upload them to the internet.All it come with was the camera and the USB jack and i hooked it in the back and hooked it to the camera but nothing happens.Then i went to install cameras on the computer but it didn't have anything for an "Olympus D-55 Zoom Inagelink" so can somebody plese help me and tell me what to do thanks.

Well let start this way do you have any photo studios or photo gallerys if so open them up and you should find a option to upload pics from digital camera. If not then you need to buy one or download one from download.com they have some freeware photo studios for free then you will be able to download your digital pics. Well, digital cameras have been put to both good and bad uses. Contractors use them to say survey a work site and the images are so clear even when enlarged. Makes it easy to show perhaps a job well done.

But then you have the voyeurs. Same deal. Crystal clear images of some girl taking a shower or something. I can't really say that's a cultural 'development'. More of a negative. But still, it's an effect of usage of digital cameras.

I have an Casio Exilim 8.1 Mega Pixels Digital Camera EX-Z9. When I try to take photos of my pets or of my husband playing paintball, they come out blurry. I don't have the instruction guide either. The only thing I can think of that may be the problem is that your hand is shaking while you're taking the photos or your subject is moving, in which case the photo will turn out blurry no matter what unless you have some sort of professional camera. If it's your hand shaking then maybe try using an tripod.

I am using a basic digital camera but want to use an external flash. If I fire the flash the same time as the shutter the camera does not see the flash, What delay should I have for it to see the flash?

When you say basic digital camera I am assuming its a point and shoot.

a point and shoot does a pre-flash either to reduce red eye or to meter ( for automatic settings)

to use an external flash you need to set the camera's flash in manual mode such that it fires only once
and set the external flash to optical slave mode so that it sees a flash go and fires at the same time.

most DSLR's have a sync speed of 1/250 i.e. shutter speed has to be slower than 1/250th of a second
however the point and shoot camera's have a leaf shutter and are able to sync faster than that.

what you need to do is find that manual flash mode

I've read in an article that it would take 14 megapixels in order for a digital camera to match a 35mm. in terms of picture image quality. Also is 35mm the "Holy Grail" of image quality in a photograph? Are there new technologies that could surpass the image quality of a 35mm camera?

4 megapixels is plenty. The human eye can't tell the difference unless you either plan to:

1) print huge, poster-sized copies of the photos, or
2) zoom way, way in using software.

In fact the more megapixels you get, not only does the price of the camera go up, but fewer pictures fit on your memory card.

4 megapixels is more than enough for 95% of us.

I would like to buy a digital camera but I'm not sure what to look at. Design is not an important aspect. What I would want is that it can produce a good quality picture and doesn't need much editing. Maybe, it depends upon how sophisticated you video editing program is.

Next time you shoot video, light the scene with enough light. This could be as simple as turning on more lights or adding a 500 watt work light with it aimed toward the ceiling.
