Orion Field Flattener for Short Refractors

Orion Field Flattener for Short Refractors

• Eliminate field curvature in short, optically fast refractor telescopes with this handy 38mm clear-aperture, fully multi-coated field flattener
• Designed for use with 400mm to 650mm focal length refractors with f/5 to f/7.5 focal ratios
• Optimizes your fast refractor telescope for astrophotography
• Preserves focal length attributes of the attached refractor telescope while flattening the field of view
• Requires 55mm of refractor telescope backfocus, weighs 7.5 oz.

Optically fast refractors used for astro-imaging are often plagued by significant field curvature, which is especially noticeable when using CCD imagers with APS-C sized and larger sensors, or DSLR cameras. Our handy field flattener resolves the issue by providing excellent field correction while preserving the focal length attributes of your scope. Designed for use with refractors with focal lengths of 400mm to 650mm and focal ratios of f/5 to f/7.5, the Orion Field Flattener for Short Refractors lets you enjoy the full imaging potential of your fast refractor. Fully multi-coated, 38mm clear aperture optics and a glare-reducing threaded interior ensure maximum image contrast. Backfocus of 55mm is required, we recommend using the Orion T-thread Spacer Ring Kit (sold separately) to achieve proper distance for use with CCD imagers. Use with a DSLR requires a T-ring for the camera (T-ring sold separately). Weighs 7.5 oz.

Storm Jacket Camera Covers are the most compact and portable camera protection you can carry with you everywhere you go . . . so you won't hesitate to use it anytime the camera is going to get wet, dirty, or sit in the sun. They are perfect for live shots setups, locker room celebrations, shooting in rain, drizzle, snow, and dusty or dirty environments. They aren't meant to replace heavy-duty covers and rain slickers costing hundreds of dollars when you really need that level of protection. Storm Jackets can be slipped on and off in less than 5 seconds, which means you'll actually use them when you'd otherwise just let the camera get wet because you didn't want to struggle with a bulky cover. When you're done with it, just shake it off, stuff it back into its zippered case, and shove it in a pocket. The cover and case together only weigh about 2-5 ounces depending on the model. The Small size fits any SLR with most lenses up to about a 80-200mm f/2.8. Here's how to tell if it will fit your camera: Measure your camera/lens from the rear of the body to the front of the lens. If it's 9" or less, this is the cover for you. The Medium size (recommended for most customers) works well for short lenses up through 300-400mm f/2.8. Measure your camera/lens from the rear of the body to the front of the lens. If it's 7"-15", this is the cover for you. The Large size is built for very long lenses. As a result, this scope packs a serious high-power punch, with magnification up to 400x making it ideal for lunar and planetary observation. You can see outstanding detail when viewing the moon you'll spot the Rings of Saturn and the Moons of Jupiter. Included is an adjustable full-sized aluminum tripod with a built-in accessory tray. This scope has an Equatorial Mount, so it can be polar aligned to track the movements of stars parade across the night sky. Use the declination circle, hour circle and latitude scale to quickly locate any celestial body. Thanks to precision worm gears and a substantial counter weight, the telescope can be balanced so that the slightest finger touch turn of the flexi cables will move the telescope with a smooth, steady motion. An optional right-ascension motor drive is available. Two medium power 1.25" diameter Plossl eyepieces (25mm & 10mm) and a Barlow 2x lens are included. Additional 1.25" eyepieces are available. Also included is a dust-free cleaning cloth, a map of the surface of the moon and a moon filter designed for reducing moon glare, and a poster of the solar system. The primary mirror is collimated (aligned) at the factory, but the scope does not include collimation aides, tools or instructions. All reflector telescopes show an inverted image, so purchase an optional erector eyepiece for daytime terrestrial viewing. Because the included paper instructions offer limited guidance, we provide buyers with an online full-color photograph, step-by-step assembly guide so you'll be up and running without having to struggle with a complex assembly diagram.
