1.25" Orion H-Alpha Extra-Narrowband Filter

1.25" Orion H-Alpha Extra-Narrowband Filter

1.25
  • Take high-contrast CCD images of emission nebulas in full moonlight or in extreme light pollution with this specialized extra narrowband h-alpha astrophotography filter
  • Astrophotography filter provides 90% transmission at H-alpha line of 656.3nm and very narrow bandpass of 7nm
  • Reveals subtle nebular details which are usually washed out by contrast-killing broadband light
  • Also works great in conjunction with other filters for more advanced astrophotography techniques
  • Astrophotography filter threads into standard 1.25" camera nosepiece, Orion Nautilus 1.25" Filter Wheel or Orion Multiple 1.25" Filter Wheel

Designed exclusively for deep-sky imaging of emission nebulas with CCD cameras, this high-performance filter transmits 90 percent of light at the hydrogen-alpha line of 656.3nm and has a very narrow full width at half-maximum (FWHM) bandpass of 7nm. It blocks out all other light, including artificial light pollution and moonlight. It also blocks infrared (IR) light. The result is a dramatic boost in contrast, revealing subtle nebular details that are usually washed out by contrast-killing broadband light. Stars come out tight and sharp.

Baader Planetarium H-Alpha 35nm CCD Filter 1.25" FHAL-1

Baader Planetarium H-Alpha passfilter allows for high-contrast deep sky images of the H-II regions. Ideal for interline CCD cameras, the 35nm FWHM bandwith of the H-Alpha filter makes this possible. For example CCD cameras such as SBIG ST-2000/STL11000 are great to use with this filter. The lower sensitivity of interline transfer CCDs benefits from the more efficient 35nm FWHM. Compared to common-colored glass base filters, the sharp bandpass and >90% high efficiency coatings make the Baader H-Alpha filter superior amongst comparable filters. Like all Baader imaging filters, the H-Alpha filter shares all of the same outstanding features. Because of the high efficiency hardened multicoatings and unmatched optical quality the H-Alpha 35nm CCD filter produces the sharpest and highest contrast images possible.

Coronado Hard Carrying Case
Life Time Tech Support from High Point Scientific

The "double stacked" Coronado SolarMax II is a serious instrument built for someone looking to see the finest areas of detail on our sun. Prominences, flares, filaments and ever changing surface areas of the sun will all be brought to you in high def with the SolarMax.

So why is a "Double Stacked" solar telescope better then a traditional solar telescope? The simple answer is that you get significantly enhanced optical resolution with the "double stacked" version.

Coronado has enhanced the "double stacked" SolarMax 60 by placing an additional filter etalon at the front of the scope. Now there are two etalons present, one internally with the new RichView tuning system and one at the front of the scope with the T-Max tuning system.

"Double Stacking" the etalons improves the scopes resolution by reducing the already narrow <.7 angstrom bandpass to an even narrower <.5 angstrom bandpass. With this set up, the enhanced resolution and contrast will offer a view of the sun that is absolutely stunning.

The "double stacked" system works the same as a non "double stacked" system, the only difference is that now it's a three part system. The telescope body incorporates a tunable sub-aperture etalon in its body as well as a removable etalon on the front of the scope. These tunable etalons works in conjunction with a 15mm blocking filter situated in the solar telescopes 1.25" star diagonal. Together these elements produce a < .5 Angstrom passband which yields an optimal balance of prominence and surface detail.
