Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer V Finderscope with Quick Release Dovetail Bracket

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer V Finderscope with Quick Release Dovetail Bracket

The Sky Surfer V is Baader Planetarium's premium red dot finder. Made of black anodized aluminum the Sky Surfer V is an elegant match for any telescope. Its large clear aperture makes finding objects easy (outside diameter of the SSV is 45mm). As with its smaller brother the Sky Surfer V avoids the dew problems of other finders thanks to its integral (and removable) dewshields. The new optimized visual coatings result in virtually transparent views of the sky (unlike many other red-dot finders).Mounting and adjustment of the Sky Surfer V is simple. Elevation and Azimuth adjustment is accomplished by turning the two enclosed adjustment knobs. The red locator dot intensity is adjusted by an 11 position adjusting knob. Attachment to your telescope is also straightforward with all necessary parts included. Simply attach a base to your telescope slip on the finder and tighten the two dovetail clamp screws. Three bases are included. The short base works best for large tubes. It includes two mounting slots (for screw mounting) and may also be attached with double-sided foam tape (supplied). The taller base fits smaller diameter tubes (as well as large tubes using the included spacer plate) and the slotted holes accommodate the factory hole pattern of popular SCTs. The third base fits the Vixen finder dovetail standard used on many import refractors. Each Sky Surfer includes a replaceable 3V lithium battery for extra long life. Each Sky Surfer V now includes Baader's new machined aluminum quick release dovetail system consisting of an aluminum dovetail riser (mounts to the finder) and dovetail block that mounts to your scope.

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer III / 30 mm "Red Dot" Finder SSIII

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer III / 30 mm

It seems everyone offers some type of low-cost red dot finder these days. The relatively low cost and intuitive ease of locating objects make these finders the perfect companion to telescopes, large and small. Baader Planetarium has taken this basic concept another step forward. Finding objects in dim star fields or light polluted skies is now easier than ever. The Sky Surfer III offers several advantages over the typical low-cost red dot finders. The extra-large 30mm optical aperture and improved optical quality delivers a much larger undistorted view and razor-sharp red dot. Unlike many red-dot finders, the Sky Surfer III incorporates optimized anti-reflective lens coatings which deliver proper locator dot brightness with virtually no image dimming. One other new feature you will really come to appreciate is the extra-long lens housing, which acts as a shield to effectively prevent dewing.

Mounting and adjustment of the Sky Surfer is simple. Elevation and Azimuth adjustment is accomplished by turning the two knurled adjustment knobs. The red locator dot intensity is adjusted by a knurled adjusting knob. Attachment to your telescope is also straightforward, with all necessary parts included. Simply attach a base to your telescope, slip on the finder, and tighten the two dovetail clamp screws. Three bases are included. The short base works best for large tubes. It includes two mounting slots (for screw mounting) and may also be attached with double sided foam tape (supplied). Baader Planetarium Semi-APO Telescope Filter Size - 2 Inch Semi-APO Filter
  • Available in 1.25'' or 2'' format
  • Delivers amazingly neutral views
  • Cuts annoying violet fringe
  • Amazing on Jupiter or Mars
  • High-end Baader quality

Baader's newest addition for Achromat owners. The Semi-APO works like its name implies - delivering an amazingly neutral view, while cutting most of the annoying and contrast-robbing violet fringe that plagues all achromats. The Semi-APO filter combines a stronger Fringe Killer coating formula with the Moon&Skyglow Neodymium substrate. The result is similar performance to the Fringe Killer + Moon&Skyglow combination, but with a slightly stronger violet cut - and at an even greater $ $ value. The Semi-APO filter benefits from all the host of world-class Baader filter attributes. The Semi-APO filter is truly the world's most advanced 'minus-violet' type filter in every regard. Its high efficiency and neutral coloration make it practically disappear in use - while making most of the violet fringe disappear! The effects on sharpness, contrast, and aesthetics are remarkable, even with small refractors. The RGB enhancement of the Neodymium substrate actually boosts color contrasts, particularly for Jupiter and Mars.

As a side benefit, the Semi-APO filter has also proven to be the best Mars filter we've used - with ALL Telescopes, including large Dobsonians, SCTs, and Apochromats. The unique properties that result from the combination of the Fringe Killer's blue wavelength attenuation (attenuation - not total elimination), plus the selective Neodymium RGB passbands, result in a significant contrast enhancement of Martian features. The image retains its natural coloration and brightness, and the optically polished surfaces maintain every bit of the image sharpness, unlike other manufacturers' filters.

The high quality of Baader Planetarium filters permits their use well ahead of the focal plane with no image degradation (ie, for cameras or binoviewers). The inclusion of Baader's renowned UV/IR Cut coatings on the

Baader Planetarium 2" Oxygen III Nebula Filter FOIII-2 Reviews

Baader Planetarium 2" Oxygen III Nebula Filter FOIII-2

Baader Planetarium 2

The Baader Planetarium Oxygen III Filter delivers the absolute highest contrast views of many diffuse and planetary nebula. For many objects, the Baader Planetarium O-III reveals a level of intricate detail that rivals the best deep sky photographs. Our favorite filter for the majority of nebula, especially The Veil, Lagoon (M8), Swan (M17), Ring (M57) and Dumbell (M29). With a large scope, you can even view the famous 'Pillars of Creation' in M16 (Eagle).

The Baader Planetarium Oxygen III Filter perfectly isolates the two doubly ionized oxygen lines (496 and 501nm), through a very sharp and narrow bandpass (8.2 nm wide!, the narrowest of any O-III filter). Unlike other O-III filters, the Baader Planetarium O-III completely blocks longer and shorter wavelengths (ever wonder why some O-III filters appear RED?, instead of the correct 500 nm Teal color). The result is the highest contrast achievable in an O-III filter.

The Baader Planetarium Oxygen III benefits from the precision fineoptically polished flat substrate, and advanced DWDM plasma assisted coatings. As a result, the Baader O-III will not degrade image sharpness or impart double images. To prevent deterioration from cleaning or exposure to moisture, some other filters even resort to sandwiching their delicate coatings between two layers of filter glass, resulting in potential blurred or double images. Contrary to myth, nebula filters are often useful at high magnifications, where image quality counts. Baader O-III filters can take high magnifications, and stars retain their pinpoint sharpness, even if the filter is used far ahead of the image plane (ie, for imaging use, or ahead of a star diagonal or binoviewer). Combine with our UV/IR filter for the ultimate in O-III deep sky imaging.

  • Can be used a star test filter

Baader Solar Continuum Filter 2"

Superb Baader Planetarium Quality

The Baader Solar Continuum Filter is truly a unique product from Baader Planetarium. A great accessory for solar observation the Baader Solar Continuum Filter is a great compliment to any expensive solar telescope.

The new Baader Solar Continuum filter is designed to enhance the visibility of solar granulation and sunspot details. By transmitting a specific spectral region around 540nm, free of emission and absorption lines, the Solar Continuum filter is able to boost contrast and reduce the effects of atmospheric turbulence. With the Solar Continuum filter in place, images snap to focus, and granulation becomes regularly visible. Details at the limit of visibility become easier to hold, and image motion reduced.

The Solar Continuum filter works well in all types of telescopes, for both visual and imaging. Users of SCTs and achromatic refractors will find it particularly beneficial, as it completely excludes the red and blue wavelengths, and centers on the peak visual wavelengths where the telescope optics are sharpest and free from chromatic aberrations. For digital imaging, we also recommend the Continuum filter be combined with our UV/IR Cut Filter (to completely cut the defocused far infrared wavelengths).

The Solar Continuum filter also makes the perfect star test filter. It's narrow bandpass and complete blockage of longer and shorter wavelengths make it superior to standard green colored filters for testing refractors at their center design wavelength (and peak visual wavelength). With this filter, more accurate appraisals of optical quality can be made, without the effects of spherochromatism or secondary color error. Due to the narrow 10nm bandpass, star testing through the Solar Continuum filter will require a bright test star.

As with all Baader Planetarium Filters, the Solar Continuum possesses all the trademark Baad

Baader Planetarium UHC-S Nebula Filter - 2" FUHC-2 Reviews

Baader Planetarium UHC-S Nebula Filter - 2" FUHC-2

Baader Planetarium UHC-S Nebula Filter - 2

The Baader Planetarium UHC-S Nebula filter excels at delivering a high-contrast and natural view of emission nebula without excessive dimming and loss of background star fields. It's the perfect filter for viewing emission nebula from light polluted skies, or for boosting the contrast of nebula from dark sky sites. The advanced technology coatings enable the filter to achieve an outstanding transmission of over 97% across the entire passband, with total blockage of prominent light pollution lines. This translates to maximum image brightness and contrast. Owners of smaller, 4"-10" telescopes will especially appreciate the high efficiency, and larger scope users will love the rich star fields and detailed subtle nebular shadings that are left intact.

The Baader UHC-S manages to improve on the contrast of the typical broadband or so-called "Deep Sky" filters. Sky background is darker, and contrast of emission nebulae are noticeably improved. Most other "UHC" filters tend to excessively darken the sky and star fields, leaving the nebulae looking artificial and flat, set against an empty background. The high transmission, sharp cutoffs, and more moderate 60nm passband of the Baader UHC-S filter retains a more natural view, yet significantly boosts overall contrast. Imagers will appreciate the broader passband and inclusion of an extremely efficient H-Alpha passband (>99% @656nm), as well as the extreme optical quality.

At the heart of the Baader UHC-S filters are their special fineoptical substrate polishing process and advanced coating design. The result is a filter that imparts no image degradation, unlike other filters. To prevent deterioration from cleaning or exposure to moisture, some other filters even resort to sandwiching their delicate coatings between two layers of filter glass, resulting in potential blurred or double images. Baader Planetarium LRGB CCD Filter Set 1 1/4" w/ UV IR Cut L-Filter (Optically Polished) FLRGB-1

Baader Planetarium LRGB CCD Filter Set 1 1/4

The Baader Planetarium LRGB anti-reflection filters deliver improved color separation and image quality without annoying halos.

Baader generates top rate LRGB Filters through an extensive coating stack design and testing program. Baader has partnered with the world's leading thin film coating company to produce transmission curves that border on the ideal. Their ultra steep cutoffs and high transmission (>95%) allowed Baader to do something to a degree no other RGB filter set can manage - they are able to effectively separate the important H-Beta and O-III lines. The Baader Blue filter passes virtually all of the H-Beta and O-III lines, while the Green filter is able to capture all of the O-III line, without encroaching into the H-Beta line. None of the light is wasted by either filter. In this way, O-III is represented as it should be, a teal (blue-green) color, and H-Beta is captured solely in the blue. Never before has this degree of separation been achieved, and with such high transmission of both lines.

In addition, the Green and Red filter passbands nearly touch, leaving only a sharp notch to block out the primary Mercury/Sodium light pollution line at 580nm. The high transmission everywhere else delivers the shortest combined exposures possible with every detector.

In addition to their special transmission properties, the Baader coatings were developed from the outset with another key goal in mind - eliminate the annoying reflections present in other astro-filters. To achieve this freedom from reflections required careful balancing of the coating stacks and further extensive testing. The result can be seen in these two images, showing the freedom from reflections in the L and C Filters (click on the image for a larger version). Image courtesy of Mr. Johannes Schedler.

The high optical quality of the Baader narrowband filters guarantees no loss in sharpness or contrast. Each substrate is fine-optically po

1.25" Orion Oxygen-III Nebula Eyepiece Filter

1.25
  • Orion's Oxygen-III (O-III) eyepiece filter reveals wondrous details when viewing cloudy nebulas
  • Filter transmits close to 90% of the light corresponding to 2 oxygen-III spectral lines at 496nm and 501nm for enhanced nebula detail in visual views
  • Completely blocks virtually all other visible wavelengths of light so views of nebulas are optimized
  • Eyepiece filter features high quality optical glass in a double-threaded, metal filter cell
  • Recommended for use with telescopes of 8" aperture or greater for best results and for visual use only

You can't turn up the luminosity on nebulas, but you can crank up the contrast between them and the sky to reveal more of their wondrous detail. Our Oxygen-III filter provides extremely selective filtration to bring out elusive detail in diffuse and planetary nebulas. It does so by transmitting close to 90% of the light corresponding to the two oxygen-III spectral lines at 496nm and 501nm while completely blocking virtually all other wavelengths. The results are remarkable. You'll see more detail than you ever could before in nebular gems such as the Swan, Ring, Dumbbell, Helix, and Eagle, to name a few. The O-III provides an even greater contrast boost on some objects than the UltraBlock narrowband filter. And for nebulas, every little bit helps! Try the O-III with a low-power 2" eyepiece and take in the whole Veil Nebula. Wow!

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer V W/ Quick Release Dovetail SSV Reviews

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer V W/ Quick Release Dovetail SSV

Baader Planetarium Sky Surfer V W/ Quick Release Dovetail SSV

The Sky Surfer V is Baader Planetarium's premium red dot finder. Made of black anodized aluminum the Sky Surfer V is an elegant match for any telescope. Its large clear aperture makes finding objects easy (outside diameter of the SSV is 45mm). As with its smaller brother the Sky Surfer V avoids the dew problems of other finders thanks to its integral (and removable) dewshields. The new optimized visual coatings result in virtually transparent views of the sky (unlike many other red-dot finders).

Mounting and adjustment of the Sky Surfer V is simple.
