What kind of professional digital camera should I get ?

Question by sjchristian: What kind of professional digital camera should I get ?
am looking to buy a very good professional digital camera. I have been thinking of taking up photography as a hobby. Mostly photos of my childrens lives, family events, etc. Yet I have no clue as to what kind of camera is best for what I want to do. I was thinking of going for Nikon, Cannon or possibly a Sony one. I am also looking to spend between $ 500 - $ 700. I want it to be versatile and durable, because I am not sure if I will be able to afford another one any time soon. Thanks in advance.

What is a digital camera that takes good analog looking pictures?

Question by Brad B: What is a digital camera that takes good analog looking pictures?
I'm looking for a digital camera, other than a Leica (like most people I don't have $ 7000 bucks at my disposal) that takes nice film quality photos. I'm turned off and slightly tired of the sterile world of DSLR's and I want a camera that has that rich analog look. I take fine art photography, so I'm not worried about being able to change out lenses and all that. Like I said, essentially a Leica M9 would be ideal, but I can't afford it.

I've been looking into the newer Fujifilm X100 and Olympus OMD-EM5. Are they my best bet?

I appreciate all suggestions and guidance!

I am getting my girlfriend a digital camera for her birthday. I don't know a thing about them, and all of those websites with guides on which one to buy confuse me. I am searching for suggestions on specific models that would fit her fine, you know, a good social camera that won't break the bank.

I think she'd really appreciate a digital camera with a cell phone attached.

Find out her current cell phone provider, and buy her a new phone for that. Most of them have 1.3 megapixals or better these days. The Sony Ericssons are the most popular. For the same price, why not have both in one unit?

I am looking to buy my first digital camera.
I am looking for a great quality camera somewhere in the $ 150-$ 250 price range that is not too big so it can easily fit in my purse. I would like a camera that takes good action shots, one that takes pictures right after the other without much delay. I also need one that is good in low light or dark settings. I would also like it to have a decent zoom option.
What would you recommend?

I love the digital camera I have now, its an Olympus that's super tiny and takes great pictures during the day, however it takes horrible pictures at night even though its has special settings! It still works fine for a 4 year old camera BUT I will be studying abroad next semester and I would like to take pictures at night as well as the day!!
